Cleaning Procedures & Care - Linea PB
As part of routine cleaning,
Black Rabbit Service recommends a handful of
Equipment Best Use Practices to reduce material build up such as coffee oils, spent grounds, and milk waste.
Tools & Supplies:
- Espresso Machine Cleaning Powder (Cafiza)
- Dairy Cleaner (Rinza)
- Grouphead Scrubber Brush
- Small Heat Resistant Container (Large Steam Pitcher)
- Microfiber Towel
- Blank Portafilter Basket
- Alternatively, a portafilter assembly equipped with a blank basket.
- Stubby Flathead Screwdriver
Routine Cleaning Procedures & Care
Diffuser Screen & Screw:
- Using a stubby flathead screwdiver.
- Remove diffuser screw.
- Rinse diffuser screen and screw and wipe with damp microfiber cloth.
- In addition to rinsing, it is recommended to soak diffuser screw and screen along with portafilters in next section.
DO NOT forget to reinstall diffuser screen & screw prior to backflushing and/or pulling a shot!
Grouphead:
- While diffuser screens and screws are removed.
- Scrub grouphead dispersion block and gasket with scrubber brush.
- Wipe with damp microfiber.
- Caution! Surfaces are hot!
- Routine Backflush
Portafilters:
- Remove portafilter basket and spring from portafilter body.
- Scoop 3 teaspoons of espresso cleaning powder into a heat resistant container with 2 -3 cups of hot water (water from the hot water spout is sufficient).
- Allow espresso cleaning powder to dissolve.
- Place portafilter bodies, basket, and springs into cleaning solution.
- Do not submerge handles.
- Leave to soak for ~30 minutes.
- Remove from solution and rinse thoroughly.
- Wipe with microfiber cloth to remove access coffee oils.
Steam & Hot Water Spout Tips:
- Unthread steam and hot water spout tip from wand.
- Inspect for material build up and rinse with water.
- For stubborn clogs, steam tips may be soaked along with portafilters. Just like diffuser screens and screws!

Steam Wand:
- Mix 1oz dairy cleaner with 12oz cold water.
- Place steam wand in solution and turn steam knob ON and OFF several times to pull solution into wand.
- Do not remove from solution.
- Set timer for 10 minutes and allow wand to soak.
- After 10 minutes. Remove steam wand from solution, dispense steam, and wipe with damp microfiber towel.
- Place steam wand in clean water turn ON and OFF several times to pull clean water into wand.
- Remove steam wand from water, dispense steam, and wipe with damp microfiber towel.
Drip Tray:
- Remove grated drip tray panel.
- Pour hot water into drip tray basin.
- Carefully wipe areas which contain material build up with microfiber towel.
- Wipe down grated drip tray panel.
- Inspect underside for coffee oil and material buildup!
Cosmetic Panels:
- Wipe gently with a clean/damp non abrasive cloth (microfiber) in the direct of metal grain if present.
- For stubborn stains or buildup, use a mild dish soap.
- Includes grated drip tray panel.
Do not use alcohol or solvents! Only use approved espresso cleaning detergents or powders when backflushing, soaking components, or wiping down machine panels.
