Cleaning Procedures & Care - Linea PB


As part of routine cleaning, Black Rabbit Service recommends a handful of Equipment Best Use Practices to reduce material build up such as coffee oils, spent grounds, and milk waste. 
Tools & Supplies:
  1. Espresso Machine Cleaning Powder (Cafiza)
  2. Dairy Cleaner (Rinza)
  3. Grouphead Scrubber Brush
  4. Small Heat Resistant Container (Large Steam Pitcher)
  5. Microfiber Towel
  6. Blank Portafilter Basket
    1. Alternatively, a portafilter assembly equipped with a blank basket.
  7. Stubby Flathead Screwdriver



Routine Cleaning Procedures & Care

Diffuser Screen & Screw:
  1. Using a stubby flathead screwdiver.
  2. Remove diffuser screw.
  3. Rinse diffuser screen and screw and wipe with damp microfiber cloth.
    1. In addition to rinsing, it is recommended to soak diffuser screw and screen along with portafilters in next section.
AlertDO NOT forget to reinstall diffuser screen & screw prior to backflushing and/or pulling a shot!

Grouphead:
  1. While diffuser screens and screws are removed.
  2. Scrub grouphead dispersion block and gasket with scrubber brush.
  3. Wipe with damp microfiber.
    1. Caution! Surfaces are hot!
  4. Routine Backflush

Portafilters:
  1. Remove portafilter basket and spring from portafilter body.
  2. Scoop 3 teaspoons of espresso cleaning powder into a heat resistant container with 2 -3 cups of hot water (water from the hot water spout is sufficient).
    1. Allow espresso cleaning powder to dissolve.
  3. Place portafilter bodies, basket, and springs into cleaning solution.
    1. Do not submerge handles.
  4. Leave to soak for ~30 minutes.
  5. Remove from solution and rinse thoroughly.
  6. Wipe with microfiber cloth to remove access coffee oils.
Steam & Hot Water Spout Tips:
  1. Unthread steam and hot water spout tip from wand.
  2. Inspect for material build up and rinse with water.
    1. For stubborn clogs, steam tips may be soaked along with portafilters. Just like diffuser screens and screws!

Steam Wand:
  1. Mix 1oz dairy cleaner with 12oz cold water.
  2. Place steam wand in solution and turn steam knob ON and OFF several times to pull solution into wand.
    1. Do not remove from solution.
  3. Set timer for 10 minutes and allow wand to soak.
  4. After 10 minutes. Remove steam wand from solution, dispense steam, and wipe with damp microfiber towel.
  5. Place steam wand in clean water turn ON and OFF several times to pull clean water into wand.
  6. Remove steam wand from water, dispense steam, and wipe with damp microfiber towel.
Drip Tray:
  1. Remove grated drip tray panel.
  2. Pour hot water into drip tray basin.
  3. Carefully wipe areas which contain material build up with microfiber towel.
  4. Wipe down grated drip tray panel.
    1. Inspect underside for coffee oil and material buildup!
Cosmetic Panels:
  1. Wipe gently with a clean/damp non abrasive cloth (microfiber) in the direct of metal grain if present.
  2. For stubborn stains or buildup, use a mild dish soap.
    1. Includes grated drip tray panel.
Warning
Do not use alcohol or solvents! Only use approved espresso cleaning detergents or powders when backflushing, soaking components, or wiping down machine panels.
