In addition to the digital display and
Pressure Gauge. The Linea PB utilizes a
Sightglass to observe the water level within the steam boiler. Understanding steam boiler water levels and how they affect steam and hot water tap production is critical when diagnosing faults.
Ideal water level observed through the sightglass!
Sightglass Characteristics
While a super straightforward component. Identifying the water level within the steam boiler will help diagnosis an associated fault.
Water Level
- Normal:
- Typically half way up the sightglass.
- High:
- 3/4 or more.
- Commonly steam production will be limited and the steam pressure gauge dial will drop rapidly on use.
- Additionally, steam pressure gauge dial will slowly climb above set pressure...
- A high sightglass reading may result in a steam boiler overpressure scenario.
- Low:
- Less than a 1/3.
- Commonly steam production will be limited and the steam pressure gauge dial will drop rapidly on use.
- A low sightglass reading may result in a steam boiler overpressure scenario.
- Espresso machine is struggling to fill.
- Confirm water is turned on.
Troubleshooting:Water levels observed through the sightglass are the direct result of a functional steam boiler
Autofill Circuit. One of the main regulating components of the autofill circuit is the steam boiler level probe. When functioning properly, the level probe maintains the appropriate ratio of water to steam within the boiler (this ratio, while not precisely 1:1, is observed via the sightglass!)
